Capitol Hill Celebration 10th Anniversary of the ABLE Act

Today, one in six Americans live with a disability, yet these individuals are not well represented in the workforce or the financial system. In order to expand community inclusion for people with disabilities, we must provide better financial tools and education.

People with disabilities are a critical part of the national conversation on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  We can foster greater empowerment for this community by removing financial barriers and poverty-level limitations. People with disabilities should be able to invest in their long-term financial well-being.

Global Down Syndrome Foundation DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act on Capitol Hill

For nearly two decades, Down syndrome was one of the least funded genetic conditions at our National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Global Down Syndrome Foundation (GLOBAL) has worked hard and successfully advocated with Congress and the NIH to increase Down syndrome research and medical care funding from $18 million in 2009 to $130 million in 2023.

The DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act, named in memory of GLOBAL’s beloved Ambassador and Jamie Foxx’s younger sister, DeOndra Dixon, will authorize Down syndrome research funding that continue to elongate life and improve health outcomes for people with Down syndrome.
